Winchester, Va. – Marymount University's men's lacrosse team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 12-6 victory on the road at Shenandoah on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 7-2 on the season, tying last year's win total and the most since the 2001 campaign.
Connor Kellogg led the Saints with a season-high four goals while Kellen McCarthy and Matt Justice added two each. Garrett Nealon, Tyler DaSilva, Jimmy Wendell and Max Johnson all chipped in lone goals as well.
Kellogg, McCarthy, Justice and Nealon all logged assists in the win.
Shenandoah (5-5) led early, shutting the Saints out in the first quarter en route to a 2-0 lead. Marymount responded in the second frame, outscoring the Hornets 3-1 to force a 3-3 tie going into halftime.
The Saints established control in the third by opening the stanza with six unanswered goals, including back-to-back man-down goals from Justice and Kellogg, to take firm control of the contest. Shenandoah would score the next three goals overlapping the final quarters but MU closed things out with three-straight goals in the fourth to seal the win.
Marymount dominated faceoffs on the night, winning 16-of-22 trips to the center 'X'. Lodato went 14-for-20 while Johnson was a perfect 2-for-2.
Frank Tejera and Aaron Paul led Shenandoah with two goals each.
