Women’s Lacrosse Drops First Game of the Season
Ashland, Va. – Marymount University's women's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season with a 19-10 setback at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. The Saints fall to 2-1 overall on the season.
Taylor Johnson and Courtney Oehl both led the Saints with three goals each for a hat-trick while Moly Maher and Natalie Tinkham added two goals and two assists apiece. Johnson and Megan McGuirk both chimed in will assists as well.
Defensively, Kiki Niebuhr collected 10 saves between the pipes in the loss. Maher paced the Blue and White with five ground balls while Tinkham earned five draw controls.
Marymount scored the first two foals of the game to take the early lead before the Yellow Jackets (2-1) responded with four straight goals to lead 4-2. The Saints answered right back with three unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead with 11:26 remaining in the first half. Randolph-Macon would take control from there, closing out the frame on a 6-0 run while opening the second with four straight goals to take a 14-5 lead just nine minutes into the second half.
Katie Russo, Laney Dee and Alyssa Chavez each had three goals for Randolph-Macon.
Marymount returns to action on Sunday as it travels to face Shenandoah.
