Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Goucher 13-10 for its third straight win on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints improve to 5-2 on the season with the victory over their former Capital Athletic Conference foe.
Megan McGuirk paced the Saints with four goals and three assists on the day. She moved into ninth place all-time on the Marymount career scoring list with 109 points.
Marymount opened the game with three quick goals in the first two minutes of action before the Gophers (6-5) got on the board at the 23:21 mark to make it 3-1. The Saints would push their lead to 5-1 before Goucher responded with three-straight goals to pull within 5-4 with 11:14 remaining in the first. Both sides would trade lone goals down the stretch as MU took a 6-5 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Saints posted three unanswered goals in the opening 1:31 to push back ahead 9-5. The Gophers would manage to pull within two goals three more times, including down 12-10 with 2:43 remaining, but couldn't close the gap any further.
Defensively, Tylar Abrams (3-0) collected 12 saves between the pipes for her third win of the season. Miller and Maher both were credited with a pair of caused turnovers while McGuirk hauled in four draw controls. Maher led the Blue and White with four ground balls.
Rita Meissner led Goucher with four goals.
