Women’s Lacrosse Falls in CAC Tournament

Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University's sixth-seeded women's lacrosse team fell 16-5 to rival third-seed Mary Washington in the First Round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.  The Saints close out the season 8-8 overall.

Natalie Tinkham, Jacki Belker, Stephanie Keane, Taylor Johnson and Catherine Powell all scored for the Saints.  Molly Maher added three assists in the loss.

Defensively, Tylar Abrams and Kiki Niebuhr split time in goal and combined for 12 saves.  Abrams collected five in the opening half before Niebuhr chipped in seven in the second frame.

Maher led the Blue and White with three caused turnovers while Tinkham and Kelly Smigen both added two.  Powell and Maher both paced MU with four draw controls while Abrams added four ground balls.

Jenna Petrucelli led Mary Washington (13-4) with four goals.

With its 8-8 overall record, Marymount is eligible for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament.  The Saints will find out if they are selected following the conclusion of the CAC Tournament in May.
