LANCASTER, Pa. – The Marymount University tennis, golf, and track and field programs were well-represented when the Atlantic East Conference and Centennial Conference announced weekly awards on Tuesday. Six Saints from five different programs earned recognition by the leagues.
In women's track and field, Deziree Conklin (Track) and Samantha Healy (Field) were honored for their performance at the Gallaudet Invitational on Saturday. Conklin grabbed the silver in both the 100m and 400m hurdles at Gallaudet on Saturday, finishing with a strong time of 15.62 in the 100m and 1:06.54 in the 400m, respectively. She also took the top spot in the long jump on the day, hitting a mark of 5.22m. All three broke her own school records. Healy took the gold in the hammer throw on Saturday at the Gallaudet Invitational, almost outperforming the next contestant by 10m. She hit a mark of 46.19m. The pair join Agnes Signou as women's track and field athletes to earn a weekly award this season.
In men's track and field, Ryan Brooks was named the Track Athlete of the Week. Brooks finished first in the 110m hurdles on Saturday at the Gallaudet Invitational, finishing with a time of 15.78. In the 400m hurdle event, Brooks won again by setting a school record with a time of 56.88. Brooks is the first men's track and field athlete to earn an award this season.
On the tennis court, Marymount swept the weekly accolades. Dorian Guiot was named Men's Tennis Player of the week after winning every singles and doubles match he participated in this week. His performance helped Marymount jump out to a 3-0 mark in conference play. He swept two singles opponents by 6-0, 6-0 scores while topping his third opponent 6-0, 6-1. He is the second Saint to earn a weekly award after Michael Miller received one on Oct. 5, 2021.
Caroline Haymans was named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going unbeaten and helping Marymount to a 2-1 record to open conference play. Against Immaculata, Haymans won at #3 doubles (8-5) and #2 singles (6-0, 6-3). She followed that performance up with an impressive win at #1 singles against Neumann on Monday (6-1, 6-0). Haymans is the first MU women's tennis player to win a weekly award this season.
Rounding out the weekly award winners is Isabel Trojillo of women's golf, who was named Atlantic East Women's Golfer of the Week for the third time this season. Trujillo shot a 74 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for first at the Ursinus Spring Invitational at Stonewall Links. Her performance helped Marymount finish in second place as a team out of seven. She was also recognized by the Centennial Conference as the Women's Golf Athlete of the Week.
