Conklin, Healy Earn USTFCCCA All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced their All-Region Teams, awarding two Saints with honors for the South Region: Deziree Conklin and Samantha Healy.

The official release from the USTFCCCA states, "Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team."

Conklin, a standout for the Saints in hurdle and jump events on the season, garnered All-Region honors in the 100 meter hurdle event. She had a top time of 15.21 in the event at the Bison Outdoor Classic earlier this season. The first-year from Virginia Beach, Va. was the conference champion at the 2022 Atlantic East Outdoor Conference Championships, earning her First Team All-Conference as well as AEC Rookie of the Year. Shortly thereafter, Conklin earned first-place at the ECAC DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100m hurdle event. 

Healy, a top throws student-athlete for the Saints, earned All-Region honors in the hammer throw event. She hit her best mark of her career at the ECAC DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships at 51.21m, good for best all-time in the Saints' early history. She was the conference champion for the AEC, earning her First Team All-Conference, before earning silver at the ECAC Championships.
