Six Saints Earn Academic All-State Honors from VaSID

ARLINGTON – Led by three honorees from the swimming program, Marymount Athletics placed six student-athletes on the Academic All-State Team, announced the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) on Thursday.

Delaney Carey and Isabella Ochalik represented the women’s swim team, while Trevor Cairns represented the men’s swim team. Rounding out the honorees were Phuong Le (women’s golf), Roey Stern (men’s basketball) and Sophia Mayer (women’s lacrosse).

Stern, who was named the Atlantic East Man of the Year last month, earns Academic All-State laurels for the third time in his career. Carey earned the distinction for the second time in her career while the rest of MU’s selections are first-timers.

37 schools and 222 student-athletes were represented on the Academic All-State Team. Honorees most hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
