Baseball Hangs On to Top Marywood

WASHINGTON – Marymount baseball picked up its first conference win of the season in a high-scoring affair by topping Marywood 11-9 on Thursday afternoon at Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.


  • Alex Lemery went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Marymount offense.
  • Ryan Lee hit a two-run dinger to give the Saints an 11-5 cushion in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  • Drew Mead picked up the win on the mound by going five innings with eight strikeouts.
  • Jordan Dickson and Bryce Smith both scored three runs to lead the Saints.


  • Marywood opened the game with a lead-off home run to left field by Vinny D'Auria.
  • The Saints added runs in each of the first three innings to hold a 3-1 lead.
  • A two-RBI single from Lemery and a bases-loaded walk by Lee extended Marymount's lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Pacers cut the deficit to 6-4 with a three-run sixth inning.
  • Lemery responded with a solo homer in the bottom of the frame to extend Marymount's lead.
  • Lee's two-run shot in the following inning gave the Saints a little more breathing room with an 11-5 lead.
  • Marywood chipped away at the lead in the final two innings, getting within two runs on a D'Auria RBI double in the top of the ninth.
  • Clint Wheeler finished off the save with a bases-loaded strikeout to clinch the 11-9 win.


  • Marymount will close out the series with a doubleheader at Marywood on Tuesday, April 19.
  • Game one will begin at 12 PM and game two is scheduled to start around 3 PM.
  • The Saints will return home for a doubleheader on Sunday, April 24 against Gwynedd-Mercy starting at 12 PM.
