ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Marymount University men's soccer team fell in the first round of the ECAC DIII Championship on Saturday, dropping a 9-1 decision to Muhlenberg University.
The Saints fell behind early, as the Mules put away four goals in the first half while the Marymount offense continued to work to produce an attack.
In the second half, the attack had more action, firing off five shots and finding the back of the net once off an unassisted finish by freshman midfielder Carlos Varona. However, the Mules added five more goals in the last 45 minutes to seal up the victory.
Of the Saints' five shots in the game, three were on target, two of which were by freshman Justin Meza.
Three Saints combined for the 90 minutes between the pipes, making two saves.
The Saints end the season 10-10-1, the first time the program has had a .500 record or better since the 2010 season. They registered a 4-2 tally in the Atlantic East regular season and advanced to the tournament's semifinals.
