LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released its Spring 2022 Academic Honorees on Friday with Hunter Gillis earning the prestigious Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for women's golf.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors were awarded in each sport to a member of the junior or senior class with the highest cumulative GPA on the All-Centennial Team. Gillis' selection marks the second straight year an MU golfer brought home the award as Isabel Trojillo won in 2021.
Gillis and Johns Hopkins' Anjali Devireddy (women's tennis) earned both Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports this spring. Gillis and Devireddy join an elite club of 16 student-athletes in Centennial history to receive both awards in the same season.
Trojillo joined Gillis on the Academic All-Centennial squad this season. To be nominated for the Academic All-Centennial Team, a student-athlete must receive both All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.
Rounding out the academic honors was Phuong Le, who joined Gillis and Trojillo on the Centennial Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or higher.
