Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Eagles For Third-Straight Win

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Marymount University women's lacrosse team rolled to its third-straight win of the season, defeating Bridgewater (Va.) College on Saturday afternoon on the road, 12-5.

Behind four-point performances from three Saints, Marymount used a nine-point second half to pull away for the win and a 3-0 start to the season.

The four-point games came from senior Madison Davis and sophomores Emily Peters and Sarah Agrillo

Agrillo got the scoring started for the Saints, putting away her first of four less than four minutes into the game. She followed it with her second just a minute later, catching a pass from Davis to push the 2-0 advantage.

The Eagles scored one goal in the first half, five minutes after Agrillo's finish, but freshman Riley Love pushed the lead back to two with a free-position goal to help the Saints carry a 3-1 advantage into the break.

The scoring ramped up in the second half, but it didn't come until after two-straight goals by the Eagles on the restart to draw the game even at 3-3.

After that, the Saints found the back of the net four-consecutive times to take a lead that wouldn't falter the rest of the way. In the stretch, four different Saints scored including Peters, Agrillo, Love, and freshman Kaleigh Dunham

Bridgewater halted the run with a goal at the 17:03 mark, but the Saints answered with five more goals to put the final touch on the game. Peters scored twice in the stretch, while Davis, Dunham and Agrillo added one each.

Agrillo finished with four goals, and Peters added three finishes and an assist. Peters, with another well-rounded statistical line, added six draw controls, five caused turnovers, and four ground balls.

Senior Meagan Gagnon earned her third victory in the net, tending for the full 60 minutes with six saves.

The Saints return home on Monday, March 2 for another non-conference tilt against King's College. First draw is set for 4 p.m., at Long Bridge Park.
