Women's Lacrosse Picked Second in Atlantic East Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. -- After reaching the first-ever Atlantic East Conference Championship game in program history last season, the Marymount University women's lacrosse team was picked second in the conference's Preseason Poll, as announced on Wednesday morning.

The Saints garnered 21 points and one first-place vote from the league's coaches. Reigning champion Cabrini University claimed the top spot with 25 points and five first-place votes. Marywood University rounded out the top-three with 16 points.

Marymount returns the majority of its offensive production from a season ago, headlined by seniors Sarah Agrillo and Emily Peters. The duo both landed on the Atlantic East All-Conference First Team in 2021. Agrillo led MU and ranked second in the Atlantic East in goals (37), assists (18), and points (55). Peters will patrol the midfield once again after she tallied 33 goals, 38 draw controls, and 11 caused turnovers. On defense, MU will lean on AEC First-Team honoree Madison Noble, who tallied nine caused turnovers and 17 ground balls, and Sydney Clifford, who earned an All-Conference Second Team nod in 2021.

The Saints' season begins on Saturday, February 19, when they host Lycoming College at noon at Long Bridge Park. Conference play will begin for the Blue and White on Saturday, April 2, when they trek to Scranton, Pennsylvania to battle Marywood at 1:00 p.m.
