LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Marymount University women's lacrosse team claimed the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for the second consecutive week after Megan Edens garnered the honor on Monday afternoon.
For Edens, the award marks the first weekly honor of her career. The junior was a terror in the midfield for the Saints last week in a pair of victories over Southern Virginia University and Marywood University. With the wins, Marymount extended its win streak to 10 consecutive games as AEC play ramps up.
Edens started the week off with a two-way effort against the Knights. She scored one goal and registered two assists to support the Saints' offense in a 23-6 blowout win. On the defensive side of the ball, Edens finished with four draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
The Reston, Virginia product continued her strong play in MU's 16-8 win over Marywood in the Saints' AEC opener. Edens tallied a stellar nine draw controls and scooped up a trio of ground balls. She also registered an assist to extend her personal point streak to 10 games.
Edens and the Saints continue conference play on Wednesday, April 6, on the road against Cabrini University at 6:00 p.m.
