NORTHBOROUGH, MA. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced their Academic Honor Squads and Academic Honor Roll recipients on Wednesday, honoring Marymount's women's lacrosse program as well as seven of its team members.
The Saints were one of 295 institutions across Division I, II, III, and NAIA to receive the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad award for the 2021-22 academic year.
On top of the team award given to the program, seven of its team members earned 2022 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll: Brooke Balducci, Caitlyn Dunn, Erin Cannon, Kaleigh Dunham, Megan Edens, Elaina Hagen, and Caroline Wolford. The seven Saints were a part of 977 student-athletes from 183 different institutions to garner the accolade.
The women's lacrosse program was most recently awarded the IWLCA Team Community Awareness Award, and Dunn was announced as a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.
Earlier this year, 19 Saints were honored on this year's Atlantic East All-Academic Team. To top off academic prowess for head coach Kate Athing's program, Sophia Mayer earned Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) Academic All-State Honors.
In Coach Athing's tenure at the helm for the Saints, she has led her team to Academic Honor Squad in all awarded seasons.
