Women’s Track and Field Takes Second at Atlantic East Meet

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Led by standout performances from Samantha Healy and Deziree Conklin, the Marymount women's track and field team earned a second-place finish in the Atlantic East Championships this weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Conklin was named the Atlantic East Rookie of the Year after winning three conference championships this weekend. One highlight was breaking her own conference record in the 100-meter hurdles (15.18) en route to gold in the event.
  • Conklin was a triple champion thanks to a 4.99-meter performance in the long jump and a 10.21-meter performance in the triple jump. She finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.77.
  • Healy also rebroke her own conference record in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 50.26 meters. Her teammate McKayla Buehler finished in third in the event with a toss of 33.34 meters.
  • In the shot put, Healy finished in second place with a school-record toss of 11.95 meters. Jada Noel finished right behind her in third place with a throw of 10.92 meters.
  • Healy rounded out her meet with another second-place finish in the discus (30.98 meters).
  • Agnes Signou took the 200-meter title with a time of 28.28 and the 400-meter title with a time of 1:01.18. She ran the fastest preliminaries time in the 100-meter dash but DNF in the finals of the event.

  • Second Team - Samantha Healy (Shot Put, Discus Throw)
