Women's Volleyball Earns Top Spot in Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Marymount Saints earned the top spot in the 2022 Atlantic East Conference Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the conference's head coaches. 

The Saints received 34 points and four first-place votes to land as the poll favorite. After falling to Cabrini in the championship match in 2021, Marymount was picked to knock off the defending champions.

Cabrini University was slotted second in the poll with 33 points and the other three first-place votes. The reigning champs look to defend their conference title this fall.

Neumannn University landed at third in the poll with 26 points while Marywood University earned 21 points.

Gwynedd Mercy University, Immaculata University and Centenary University rounded out the poll with 15 points, 12 points and six points, respectively. 

Centenary, Gwynedd Mercy and Immaculata see their first matches on Thursday, September 1 while Marymount, Neumann, Cabrini and Marywood start their seasons Friday, September 2. Conference play will commence on Saturday, October 1 with a tri-match between Marymount, Gwynedd Mercy and Centenary.

The 2022 Atlantic East Tournament is set to begin with the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, November 1 followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 3, and the title contest on Saturday, Nov 5.
