Saints Split Pair in Second Day of W&L Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. - Marymount University Women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Washington and Lee University Invitational. The Saints took Guilford College in a 3-1 decision but fell short against Gettysburg College in a 3-0 decision. 


How It Happened

  • The Saints took the first two sets in decisive decisions. Over the two sets, the Saints registered 20 kills to Guilford's five.

  • The Quakers found their stride in the third set which they took with a 25-22 decision when they improved their hit percentage to .143 but the Saints fought back in the fourth set. With the set tied at 25-25, Munsterman solidified the win for the Saints with two consecutive kills.

  • Against the Bullets, the Saints kept each set very close and fell short by no more than three points in any set.

  • The Saints built a solid lead in set two but the Bullets came back from a six-point deficit and tied the score at 22-22. The Bullets continued their offense and took the set 25-22.

  • The Bullets solidified the match win with a service ace that brought set three to an end at 28-26 in Gettysburg's favor.

Up Next

  • Marymount will travel to Bridgewater, Virginia on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The match against the Bridgewater Eagles is set to start at 7:00 pm.

  • Marymount will host its first home competition in a tri-match against Averett and York on Saturday, Sept. 17.
