Women's Volleyball Sweeps St. Mary's (Md.)

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's volleyball extended its winning streak to four matches with a dominant three-set sweep over St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday night.

NOTABLE

  • Maya Harris hit a perfect 1.000 in the match with a team-high eight kills on eight swings. 
  • Natalie Garbalosa led the Saints defensively with 12 digs. 
  • 17 Saints saw action in the victory. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marymount scored the first five points of the first set and cruised to a 25-13 victory. 
  • St. Mary's held an early 9-8 lead in the second set but Marymount took control thanks to a strong service rotation by Sarah Pham. She led the Saints to seven straight points as MU closed out the set, 25-17. 
  • The final set was never in doubt as Marymount rolled to a 25-12 victory. 

UP NEXT

  • Marymount will take part in the eight-team Worthington Classic hosted by Gallaudet on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24. 
  • The Saints will face Salisbury (4 PM) and DeSales (8 PM) on Friday before playing against Catholic in a Pope's Cup matchup on Saturday at 10 AM. 
  • After pool play, Marymount will have a placement match against an opponent from the other pool. The first-place teams from each pool will compete for the tournament championship, while the second-place teams will compete for third place, etc.
