Saints Sweep to Open Conference Play

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's volleyball improved to 5-0 at Converse Family Field House this season with an impressive pair of 3-0 sweeps against Gwynedd-Mercy and Centenary on Saturday afternoon. 

NOTABLE

  • All seven members of the senior class were introduced as starters this afternoon in honor of Senior Day. 
  • Elissa Munsterman led the Saints with 22 kills across both games and hit .474 against Centenary. 
  • Alexis Franklin had 37 assists on the day, including 20 against Gwynedd-Mercy.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Against the Griffins, Marymount started off a little slow in the first set as it was tied 12-12 at one point. 
  • Franklin led MU to four straight points on her serve and helped MU win the first set, 25-20. 
  • Marymount pulled away in the middle part of the second set with an impressive run of serving from Sarah Pham and Franklin to give MU a 20-11 lead. The Saints eventually took the set, 25-14. 
  • Right out of the gate in the final set against Gwynedd, Marymount was in total control and prevailed, 25-15. 
  • Against Centenary, Marymount improved as the game went along and took the sweep by set scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-8.

  • Marymount will remain at Converse Field House to host Immaculata on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 PM.
