Women's Volleyball Splits at Cabrini Tri-Match

RADNOR, Pa. – After falling to fellow AEC unbeaten Cabrini in five sets to start the day, Marymount women's volleyball responded with a 3-0 win over Alvernia on Saturday afternoon to finish the day 1-1.

NOTABLE

  • Mya Bowers finished the Cabrini match with 13 kills and only one error to finish with a .480 hitting percentage against the Cavaliers.
  • Alexis Franklin had 27 assists and 12 digs to lead the Saints in both categories against Cabrini.
  • Elissa Munsterman led Marymount with 12 kills against Alvernia.
  • Jada Griffith led the Saints with 13 digs against the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marymount entered the day 5-0 in conference play without dropping a set, while Cabrini entered 4-0.
  • The Cavaliers took the first two sets (25-20, 25-16) before Marymount drew blood by taking sets three and four (25-10, 25-22).
  • In the final set, Cabrini closed it out with four of the final five points to secure first place in the Atlantic East standings with one week left of the regular season.
  • Against Alvernia, Marymount came back from 22-19 down to score six of the final seven points to take the first set, 25-23.
  • The Saints handled Alvernia, 25-18, in the second set before taking the final set, 25-21.

UP NEXT

  • Marymount will close out the regular season with a road match at Gallaudet on Wednesday at 7 PM before traveling to Mary Washington for a tri-match against Shenandoah and the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 29.
  • The Saints have clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Atlantic East Tournament. Marymount will host a semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 3.
