Saints Notch Season Sweep of Gallaudet

WASHINGTON – Marymount women's volleyball picked up a solid non-conference win with a 3-0 sweep over Gallaudet on Wednesday. The Saints previously swept the Bison in September at the Worthington Classic.

NOTABLE

  • Marymount had 39 kills and only three attack errors on the night to hit at an incredible .396 percentage. The three errors are a season-low for the Saints.
  • Alexis Franklin and Sydney Sands both had 17 assists to pace the attack.
  • Jada Griffith (20 digs) and Maya Harris (15 digs) led the MU defense.
  • Myia Jeter had 11 kills with no errors to hit .647 on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After trailing in the first set 9-7, Marymount responded to take the set convincingly, 25-14.
  • The Saints started slow again in the second set and trailed 10-6 at one point. Strong service runs by Franklin and Harris propelled Marymount to a 25-19 win.
  • Marymount led wire-to-wire in the third set to take it, 25-20.

UP NEXT

  • Marymount will close out the regular season by traveling to Mary Washington for a tri-match against Shenandoah and the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 29.
  • The Saints have clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Atlantic East Tournament.
  • Marymount will host a semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 3. Time and opponent are still to be determined.
